Caloundra Town Reserve

The Caloundra Town Reserve (Sugar Bag Road) is a bushland reserve which is currently used by mountain bikers with down trails which have existing for many years. Other users of the site include runners, walkers and dog walkers.   Greenedge was engaged as lead consultant to undertake a feasibility study and master plan, working closely with Town Planners, Engineers, Sports and Recreation Consultants, Environmental Consultants and Mountain Bike Specialists. Along with the consultants Greenedge undertook extensive environmental site investigation, community consultation, internal and external stakeholder consultation and desktop studies a robust and thorough plan was prepared.   Conflict resolution on this project through the development of the master plan allowed for all users of the site to be included in making the site inclusive.   Greenedge were able to achieve a holistic approach for the site which provided an active tourism opportunity for Caloundra and the Sunshine Coast region as a whole.   Date 2017 Location Sugar Bag Road, Caloundra, Queensland Status Concept...

Palmview Forest

The estate entrance is pronounced by the monolithic natural stone walls adjoining the Bruce Highway. Conceived to symbolise a grand entry threshold like an ancient walled city, it separates the ‘busy’ world and constant movement on the highway with the serene and relaxing ambience amongst the natural surroundings within the estate.   The preservation of significant vegetation and the embellishment of these with new plantings, particularly within drainage corridors creates smaller community neighbourhoods and provides an intimate feel to the development. Planting of native species to the road edge in locations adjoining naturalised areas extends the environmental zones and reduces the on-going maintenance through the strategies employed to limit turf.   This project demonstrates a commitment in implementing high level sustainability outcomes and our passion in embracing the natural environment which has been recognised by our peers at the 2016 AILA Queensland Awards of Excellence. Hill Close Estate

One of Economic Development Queensland’s (EDQ) first regional sites, the development objectives included relieving the pressure on affordable living caused by a buoyant local economy in gas and mining.   Early intervention ensured that the heavily treed site was analysed to ensure that the most significant vegetation was retained in the subdivision layout. This process influenced the open space parkland and road alignment positions, as well as to some degree the entrance locations. The collaborative approach ensured that the design intent was maintained as the site plan evolved.   This strong environmental concept was further embellished with actions such as translocating grass trees to the park spaces from areas to be cleared. The use of gabion structures as retaining walls and feature walls was a direct response to an intention to reuse rock excavated from site. This was undertaken with the addition of feature rock dressing the face of the gabions.   Water sustainable design (WSUD)...

Maleny Community Precinct & Trail

The Maleny Community Precinct is a 126 ha parcel of former farmland in local authority ownership. The site has some significant heritage and environmental values, including Fairview: a heritage listed building.   Engaged in 2009 whilst at GMG, Greg lead a team of consultants in the development of a master plan for the site. This involved substantial stakeholder and community engagement resulting in a robust master plan. The plan included a community golf course, sporting facilities, aquatic centre, community facilities, preservation of the heritage building (into an interpretation centre), a Landcare environmental centre and nursery, an environmental park and a public trail connecting the precinct to the town.   The latter has provided ongoing work through the development of the trail. This has involved developing a trail that embraces the different experiences along the trail and opportunities for interpretation. Our work has included ground truthing and pegging the alignment, detailed design and documentation.   In 2015...
